Going for low budget holidays is not that difficult after all, as there are plenty of ways in which one can save money. To opt for a customized tour package, based on your interest is one way of going about it. And another smart way is to book tickets when they are being sold really cheap, land up at your destination, and the take cycle or walking tours, as per your preferences. With a map in your hand, and surviving on roadside cheap food, you can pretty much explore any city under a tight budget.

Look for the…Bare neccessities

If you’re looking for a low budget holiday that will give you an experience to remember and still carry great memories for you years down the line then have no fear, because it is not impossible. You should not have to spend forever looking for a cheap airport taxi (although it is a good idea to find one) or bargain with the waiter at every restaurant you eat in. I have been on my fair share of holidays, some of them costly, but I can honestly tell you now that most of my favorite ones have been cheap and cheerful.

Missed opportunity, travelling as an air courier

It’s highly likely that you’ve seen The Simpsons; certain channels seem to put it on a loop. There is an episode titled ‘Bart on the Road’ where Bart Simpson fakes a driving license he, Milhouse, Martin and Nelson go on a road trip to Knoxville, Tennessee. You might be struggling to remember what was luring them there in the first place. Three words: ‘World’s Fair’ and ‘Sunsphere’. The whole trip turns into a disaster, which is what the writers and we the audience obviously crave. In order to get the boys back to Springfield Homer arranges for Bart to act as a courier shepherding a new part for the nuclear power plant. Whilst he sits up top in a comfortable airline seat the others share crate space. Acting as an air courier isn’t fiction and back in the 1990s (when the episode was made) it could actually gain you a cheap air fare. It’s an interesting stage in the development of cheap air travel.
