Budget traveling – never be stingy about food

My experiences have helped me understand that traveling with minimum expenditure is not as difficult as it sounds. You just should know when to behave in a stingy manner and when to spend without any hesitation. Many persons make the mistake of trying to save money on food. They eat cheap food hoping to save money. Well, trying to reduce the expenditure on food is not a smart move. If you end up falling ill, you may have to spend a lot out of your pocket for not just quality food but also for quality medical attention.

This does not mean you should always eat in fine dining restaurants. However, try to strike the right balance and make sure you do not spend a lot of money on food without having too small a budget either. Instead of saving on food, why don’t you focus on travel and accommodation? If you have good company, then even the most ordinary accommodation can seem inviting and comforting. I once did not sleep for three continuous nights simply because I was having a really good time with my friends. I used the money that I had saved to book an affordable B&B and ended up resting for four days at a stretch.

Another important point to consider when traveling is the mode of travel you choose. Getting a hike on a truck that is transporting banner stands may not be the most comforting option but it can help you travel from one place to another without spending even a single cent. In some cases, you may be required to offer a smaller sum of money to the driver to let you travel with the goods. Once you adopt this approach, you realize that this is not just the cheapest way to travel but is also the most entertaining and fun filled way to travel.
